OMMAC 2 'Business As Usual' Preview

Sass And Sinclair Headline In Liverpool

Hometown fighter Paul Sass will face his toughest challenge to date when he fights tough Burnley man Rob Sinclair on October 3rd.

The Liverpool Olympia will host one of the most intriguing matches at the domestic level for quite some time on October 3rd, and anticipation is building for the OMMAC event which has the potential to be a thriller.

Rob Sinclair Fights Paul Sass

British lightweight champion Rob Sinclair will fight undefeated submission specialist Paul Sass in a fight that could really go either way.

Paul Sass has won all eight of his fights via submission, and seven of those victories were via triangle choke. He has mixed in good company too, with the likes of Martin Stapleton of 'The Ultimate Fighter' fame on his record. Many believe Sass is destined for big things, but he will have his work cut out for him on October 3rd.

Rob Sinclair unlike Sass has a loss on his record, but since that loss he has been impressive. He has beaten tough fighters Tim Radcliffe and Aidan Marron, but perhaps his most telling victory was his last.

As everyone knows, Paul Sass' strength is his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. In Rob Sinclair's last fight, he was opposed by Alexandre Izidrio, a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt. While he doesn't have the most impressive record in the world (6-9), Izidrio is obviously a potent threat on the ground, and Sinclair impressively stayed away from a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu match, and played to his own strengths, earning a second round win.

Being the more well rounded and experienced fighter, Sinclair should be able to keep the fight where he wants it against Sass (standing), and could well earn a stoppage victory. For Sass, taking Sinclair down will be hard, and if he does get it on the ground, the fight is hardly a foregone conclusion. When Sinclair is on top he is dangerous, and he even fancies his chances of knocking Sass out from the guard.

This fight has come a couple of years too soon for Sass, and Sinclair's well rounded nature will stand him in good stead. However, he will have to teach Sass how to lose in order to walk away with his British Title, and that will be no easy task.

OMMAC 2 Undercard

There are many fights on the undercard, but Tony Moran's fight sticks out as interesting. He has made the transition from pro boxing well, and he will be looking for a knockout win over Lee McKibbin. At 36, he has no time to waste, and he will be looking to progress through the ranks quickly.

Team Kaobon will be well represented at the Olympia as seven fighters from that stable will be on the card. Carl Noon has been training there recently, and his fight against Chris Fields is sure to be explosive. Other Kaobon fighters on the show include Lee Chadwick and Richie Downes.

Two of Paul Sass' teammates will be looking to maintain their undefeated records as well, with Mark Glover and Danny Withington fighting in the lightweight and welterweight divisions.

An intriguing scrap sees Mike Solomons recieve a baptism of fire, as his pro debut will be contested against Ashley Pollard, a fighter coming off two decent wins. Solomons' coaches must have a lot of faith in their protege as this is a very tough fight.

Final Thoughts On OMMAC 2

While the card is called 'Business As Usual', this is as good as UK MMA gets, and is far from the norm. The main event has divided opinion, although the smart money is probably on Sinclair who is the more well rounded of the two.
