Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brett Rogers on CBSThe Best Fighter in the World Will Be Tested on Live TV SaturdayFedor Emelianenko will face Brett Rogers Saturday November 7, 2009 live on CBS. Fedor is the overwhelming favorite, but don't count out Rogers.
On Saturday night, Fedor Emelianenko will face Brett Rogers on CBS in a live Strikeforce vs. M-1 Global Event. Fedor is expected to win no matter what route the fight goes, but as everyone knows, it only takes on shot to knock anyone out. While Fedor is widely considered to be the top fighter in the world, Brett Rogers is not far behind in the heavyweight rankings. Both fighters are in for a brawl on Saturday night. Fedor Emelianenko's Strikeforce DebutFedor will bring his outstanding fighting ability along with his impressive record to the ring against Rogers. It will be his first fight with Strikeforce since signing a deal with them over the UFC. Strikeforce struck it big when they signed Fedor. The ratings for the CBS telecast is sure to be their best ever with the addition of Fedor to the fight card. Brett "The Grim" RogersBrett Rogers is no cupcake opponent for Fedor. He's big, he's young, and he's undefeated. His 10-0 record has come thanks to nine knockouts and one submission. You did read that right. He doesn't have a decision to his name. In fact, only two fighters have made it out of the first round with him just to be knocked out early in the second. All other eight opponents were finished in the first round. His average fight is just 1:31. While he hasn't been given much chance to win this fight, he feels that he should win the fight. The name Fedor seems to carry a lot of scare tactics with it, but don't be fooled, Brett Rogers isn't scared. It's no fluke that he has beaten his opponents with ease. His last victory was very impressive: a 22 second TKO of Andrei Arvlovski. Rogers has made it to the biggest stage and he will be ready for the fight of his life. Fedor Emelianenko's RecordFedor has a track record that is second to none. He is 30-1 in his nine year career. You just don't see that very often in MMA. When a fighter puts himself in the ring 31 times, he is bound to get caught in a few fights and end up losing the fight. That just hasn't happened to Fedor. His only loss is because he was forced to end the fight after suffering a deep cut. Other than that, he's reeled off 26 straight wins and hasn't even lowered himself to a split-decision. The man simply is incredible. His list of defeated fighters makes his 30-1 record even more impressive. He hasn't just scheduled a bunch of simple fights to pad his stats. He has fought the best of the best ,over and over, while succeeding every time. He has defeated Antonio Minotauro Noguiera and Mark Coleman twice, as well as beating Heath Herring, Andrei Arvlovski, and Tim Sylvia. It has yet to be seen if Brett Rogers will be added to that list. Fedor is the more experienced fighter and that is why he is favored. He has been through it all and can win from any position at any time. It's almost like a game within a game for him. He will fight to his opponents style just to prove that he can defeat him at it. He has yet to be wrong. Rogers is a heavy hitter and actually a better fighter than most people give him credit for. It's probably not the fact that anyone thinks Rogers is a bad fighter, it's just when he's compared to Fedor it's like comparing a Ribeye to a Filet Mignon. They're both really good, but one is usually much better. What To ExpectRogers will try to keep the fight standing and should look to pick his opportunities wisely. He is a much bigger fighter, weighing in at nearly 30 pounds more than Fedor. He will have to use that to his advantage as he needs every advantage that he can get. He wants to stay on his feet, because he knows that on the ground the only thing he has going for him is his size advantage. Even with his size, if he ends up in a position of disadvantage at all, the fight could easily be over. One could say that Fedor would prefer to take this fight to the ground because of his huge advantage there, but don't count on it. He prefers to fight his opponents to their strength to beat them at their own game. That's not to say he won't end up taking the fight to the ground and finishing it there, just don't expect him to do it quickly. There is no denying that both Rogers and Fedor have trained incredibly hard for this fight and will be well prepared. No one will no until Round 1 starts on Saturdy night which fighter is better prepared. This is just a fight and any man can beat any man on any night. Brett Rogers will attempt a Rocky sized upset on Saturday night. Fedor will set out to continue his dominance and hold on to his crown as the best MMA fighter in the world. The good thing about this fight is that it will be free on a major television network, CBS. This is exactly what fight fans want. It's a Saturday night where fans don't have to spend $50+ dollars to watch the fight or make plans to spend the evening in a crowded bar without being able to hear most of it because of the loud, drunk, obnoxious fight fans. This will draw in fight fans from all ages and demographics. Be sure to tune in to CBS on Saturday night, because this is one fight you will not want to miss.
